59 years ago, 4-H horse judges and 4-H leaders from Eastern Washington took part in a Light Horse Training School held in Yakima County on March 30, 1962. The school was conducted by Joe Johnson and Rudy Setzler, State Extension Livestock specialists, and Ed Heinemann, executive secretary of Washington Horse Breeders’ Association. The purpose of the training was to bring about uniformity of understanding in judging and riding of 4-H horses throughout the state. The need for a show where more than one county of 4-H horsemen could participate was discussed. With the help of these men and many other interested community people, this show became a reality. We thank those from throughout Eastern Washington, who have given wholehearted interest and community support. Washington State Junior Horse Show, Inc., extends a hearty welcome to exhibitors, and friends to our 58th Annual Show.
