I'm going into my third year with the Nature Buddies program, where I train on a topic each week and then teach it to homeschool kids ranging from pre-K through 9th grade. I've also helped run a station at the Nature Center's Mash-Up event with the Bell Museum, and helped with the Little Explorers program for kids ages 1-5. Through this work, I've learned self-reliance and responsibility by being someone a group of kids looks up to, and by managing my own time to stay prepared every week. I've also learned how important it is to stay aware of my surroundings and be ready for emergencies, even though I thankfully haven't had to handle many.
