Fine Arts 62 / Decorative Painting / 04: 15-19 years old
127 Fisher, Alexis 333 I wanted to come up with a creative object to paint so I decided to recycle old unplayable records into a Decorative Painting. First I sanded the record with ultra fine sandpaper so that the paint would stick to the smooth surface. After that I painted the entire record with black which was my base color. I sketched out my flower design and used various shades of pink to paint the flowers on my record. After the painting I used a light layer of clear coat to protect the painting from chipping or rubbing off. Red Monroe Country Kids 4-H Club
43 Grummel, Amy 795 For my decorative painting I wanted to add character to my dog box that I use as a tack box for my things that I use to show my dog with. I first picked out what characters I wanted to add to my box. I started with “Lady” from “Lady and the Tramp” I did a rough outline with a small tip paint brush of her silhouette and started adding details to her. I then moved on the painting “Stella” from “The Princess and the Frog”. I wanted to make sure the space within the side was close to completely used so I decided to make her outline a little bit bigger. I had to add several layers of the yellow paint for her costume to show up as a gold color, but I had to be careful not to make the yellow too bright. I added the bow, and her facial details, and she was complete. For the two dogs from “Oliver and Company” I wanted to make them have the old school feel, as with the other dogs. If the movie and animation was older I made sure I kept my colors to the more basic tones that were used. Especially with “Oliver” I wanted him to have an 80s feel. I moved on to painting the Dalmatians from “101 Dalmatians” these two were definitely the most challenging, as their torsos are longer and they have a sleek frame. I also wanted them to cover some old writing on the box as much as possible. To complete the box I added one last character, I did “Bolt” on the back with his squeaky toy. Red Monroe Rockin' Ranchers

Fine Arts 62 / Jewelry / 04: 15-19 years old
240 Albain, Caia 695 pattern used: chevron This was my first time adding a button onto the end of a bracelet and the third bracelet I’ve ever made. I used a needle threader to pull the strings through the button holes. First I separated the strings by color. I took blue first and put the threader through one side of the button and they laid the blue thread over the opening. I used a needle to help push thread through the hole then pulled the threaded through the button hole. I then repeated the process to get the blue string back on the other side of the button as it was a 4 hole button. I repeated this process with the red thread and then tied a knot as close to the button as I could. I finished up by trimming the excess and brushing nail glue over the edges so they don’t fray. 43 Grummel, Amy 789 I first lightly sketched out the horses head so I had a rough idea of what it would look like. I then went and painted the horses head white, while the white was still a little wet I took the black paint and did the patches on the horse, I wanted it to incorporate some of the white within the black spots to show more color range and variety. While the horse was drying I painted the background with a light blue, so it did not distract from the focal point which is the horse head. Once the paint was dry completely on the horse, I went and added more detail, especially focusing on the eye, and mane. I added the pink nose, and finished up by adding a halter.
